LOWERING DRUG PRICES

Since first running for Congress, Greg Stanton has refused to accept any contributions from Big Pharma. He believes the basic promise of the American health care system should be simple: if you work hard, you should be able to afford the care your family needs. That means lowering prescription drug prices, protecting coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, and stopping the abusive billing practices that leave families buried in medical debt.

Greg knows that lowering health care costs is the most important economic issue facing Arizona families — and that's why he's never taken a single dollar from Big PharMA and never will.

Greg backed the Inflation Reduction Act, which for the first time gives Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices directly with pharmaceutical companies. That law also:

  • Capped insulin costs at $35 a month for Medicare patients — delivering immediate relief to Arizona seniors who were rationing life-saving medicine to make ends meet.

  • Limited annual out-of-pocket prescription drug costs to $2,000 for Medicare beneficiaries, protecting seniors from catastrophic costs.

  • Extended Affordable Care Act tax credits that save enrollees an average of $1,500 a year in premiums — credits that Republican leaders allowed to expire on December 31, 2025, driving up costs for more than 33,000 residents of Arizona's Fourth District.

Through persistent work in Congress, he has:

  • Worked with a bipartisan coalition to force a vote on restoring the ACA tax credits, fighting to protect coverage for the hundreds of thousands of Arizonans who depend on them.

  • Advocated to expand the $35 insulin cap beyond Medicare so every American — not just seniors — can afford life-saving insulin, and to bring Medicare-negotiated drug prices into the private insurance market.

  • Pushed new federal protections against surprise medical bills, including hidden facility fees that families don't discover until after care is delivered

  • Led the fight against Republican Medicaid cuts that would strip health coverage from hundreds of thousands of Arizonans and put rural and community hospitals at risk of closing.

Impacts for Arizona

  • 7,300 seniors in Greg's district are projected to benefit from the $35 monthly insulin cap, and 6,000 seniors from the $2,000 annual prescription drug cost cap.
