This May Day, Arizona AFL-CIO Endorses Stanton for Congress
Statewide Labor Federation Backs Stanton in Primary and General Elections for Arizona’s Fourth Congressional District
April 30, 2026

MESA, AZ — This May Day, Greg Stanton for Congress today announced that the Arizona AFL-CIO has endorsed Greg Stanton for re-election in the 2026 Primary and General elections. The endorsement from Arizona’s statewide labor federation underscores Stanton’s record of fighting President Trump’s anti-worker agenda and standing with working families, defending the right to organize, supporting good-paying jobs, and fighting for an economy that rewards work.
"May Day is about worker power, and workers have always been able to count on Greg Stanton," said Fred Yamashita, Executive Director of the Arizona AFL-CIO. "He's stood up to Trump’s attacks on workers, and he’s been with us on the right to organize, on wages, on workplace safety, and on protecting the benefits our members have earned. Greg has never forgotten who he works for, and so the Arizona AFL-CIO is proud to endorse him for re-election."
The endorsement builds on Stanton’s long-standing support from Arizona’s labor movement. The Arizona AFL-CIO named Stanton its 2025 Elected Leader of the Year, and he has already earned support from UA Local 469 Plumbers and Pipefitters, the United Steelworkers, Worker Power, the Arizona State Association of Letter Carriers, Teamsters Local 104, UFCW Local 99, Ironworkers Local 75, and more. Stanton also holds a 99 percent lifetime score from the AFL-CIO’s congressional scorecard.
“I’m proud to have the support of the Arizona AFL-CIO, especially as workers across Arizona and around the world mark May Day and recommit to the fight for dignity, fairness, and respect on the job,” said Stanton. “The labor movement built the middle class, and in Congress, I’ll keep fighting to protect the right to organize, earn a living wage, and make Arizona’s economy work for working families again.”
In Congress, Stanton is a cosponsor of the PRO Act, historic legislation that strengthens American workers’ ability to organize and collectively bargain. He has also helped deliver billions of dollars in infrastructure, manufacturing, and clean energy investments that are creating good-paying union jobs across Arizona. As the only Arizonan on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, he helped pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, unlocking major investments in highways, bridges, transit, and airports. He also helped pass the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, helping secure historic semiconductor and clean energy investments that are fueling job growth across the state.
